The frozen landscapes of Arctic Finland provide the most abstract and amazing sights. In the uplands, pine trees bow down with the weight of snow, whilst the pale light of the Arctic winter provide the most beautiful, subtle palette of pastel colours. Meanwhile, in the lowlands, the cold rivers flow like sinuous black veins through the snow. Photographing in these conditions was hard, - the temperatures regularly fell to below -25° C - taking its toll on cameras, batteries and the photographer. the expression "wrap up warm" was never truer.
