Desert storm

The lightning field.

Approaching vortex.

The abandoned railroad.

Rain ahead.
During the summer months, in the Midwest USA, warm, humid maritime air from the Gulf of Mexico collides with cooler and drier continental polar air masses, producing immense, high energy storm cells. For the photographer this presents amazing, though sometimes fleeting opportunities to capture amazing images of one of natures most spectacular sights.
